David T. Davies has 25 years experience in medicinal chemistry at
a major pharmaceutical company (GSK) most of which was spent in the
antibacterial area. He has been at the forefront of two separate areas
that have progressed from hit to Phase I and is an inventor on about
25 patents in these areas. He has recently embarked on a new career,
working with biotechnology companies supporting strategy, targets
and synthetic routes in support of their medicinal chemistry efforts
and also has an academic position at University College London (UCL)
as a Research Fellow in antibacterial medicinal chemistry..

Inge. C Gyssens is an internist and subspecialist in Infectious
Diseases. Until recently she was appointed at the
department of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at Erasmus
University Medical Center in Rotterdam.
Dr. Gyssens’ research group has been involved in animal model
pharmacokinetics/dynamics and clinical trials. She has conducted audits
and intervention studies to improve the quality of prophylaxis and
therapy of infectious diseases.
Currently, Dr Gyssens has published and lectured extensively on the
topics of abscess research and antibiotic policies.
